CHILDREN & TEENS 2013



The Sheikha Manal Little Artists Program is held under the patronage of wife of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of  UAE Gender Balance Council, President of Dubai Women Establishment.



2013 WORKSHOP


Art Dubai Projects 2013 featured the launch of The Sheikha Manal Little Artists Program, a set of artist-conceived projects for children and teenagers aged 3-14. This expanded programme for young people included:


  • Workshops led by Zid Zid Kids, the Morocco-based trilingual children’s art education specialists
  • Activity and sketch books created and designed by UAE-based artists
  • Discovery Tours of Art Dubai, led by UAE-based artists


Little Artists: Shadow Puppet Workshop (ages 5-10)


Led by Zid Zid Kids, the Morocco-based trilingual children’s art education specialists, this session was for children aged between five and ten, who created shadow puppets in preparation for a theatre show. Children aged 3-14 were also welcome to join the art table; explore the Little Artists Centre; and watch the film screenings.


Little Artists: Discovery Tours (ages 8-14)


Tours of the fair specially designed for older children and young teenagers (aged eight to 14). The tours allowed young people to discover all aspects of the fair through a fun, interactive learning experience, led by Reem Falaknaz and other international artists.



Little Artists: Activity Books (ages 3-8, 8-14)


The expanded education programme also included the commissioning of activity books for children, created and designed by Miriam Abbas and Masa Taro.


ARTISTS

Zid Zid Kids began in Marrakech 2003 by design duo Julie Klear and Moulay Essakalli. Their designs for kids, from product to play projects, is found in the best boutiques, hotels and galleries around the globe. Clients include Louis Vuitton Dubai, Le Royal Mansour Marrakech, Al Riwaq Gallery Bahrain, 33 Majorelle Marrakech. Their work has garnered awards from President Obama, to Maison & Object in Paris and more. Inspired by how children play, it has been Zid Zid’s ambition to design with an unlimited imagination while blending the magic of play with the beauty of the handmade into every product and every play project they create.
