Studio G7 is a contemporary art gallery founded by Ginevra Grigolo in 1973 in Bologna. In the ‘70, after English and American Pop Art exhibitions we witnessed an increasing interest in Performance, Conceptual Art, and Painting (Abramovic, Paolini, Guerzoni). From ‘76 to 1981 the gallery published the magazine G7 Studio while from the ’80, international artists displayed in the gallery (Poirier, Beckley, LeWitt, Erben, Tremlett, Nagasawa). During the decades just mentioned, the frequent participation in some of the most important international art fairs as Basel, Cologne, Madrid, Frankfurt, Los Angeles and Bologna gives Studio G7 Gallery the opportunity to both gain reputation abroad and extend its own awareness beyond the national borders.
In April 2017, Studio G7 celebrated its 44 years of activity with a retrospective at MAMbo, Bologna. Since August 2019, the activity continues under the direction of Giulia Biafore; through a direct collaboration with its artists, the gallery reinforces its existing collaborations and introduces new artistic research from the Italian and international panorama developing a program that links the shows presented in its headquarter to the participation in international fairs. The gallery season is supported by several collaborations with public and private institutions.
