Galerie Peter Kilchmann was founded in Zurich in 1992 and is one of the leading Swiss contemporary art galleries with multiple locations in Zurich and Paris. Over the course of three decades, the gallery has introduced a diverse selection of artists to an esteemed clientele at art fairs and has produced expertly curated exhibitions.

The gallery’s program inherently includes unconventional positions that are challenging the status quo. It currently represents artists from Europe, the US, Latin-American countries and the asian continent. The common thread within the artist roster is a conceptual approach to a wide variety of creative processes and media in combination with compelling socio-political statements. In this tradition Galerie Peter Kilchmann has earned a reputation for featuring progressive exhibitions by artists who challenge the established socio-political narrative and to include critical Western and non-Western perspectives. The gallery’s program has produced many successful artist careers which resulted in landmark exhibitions at numerous important museums and institutions.

In 2021, with the opening of a second branch in Zurich, it confirmed its strong position within Switzerland. In 2022, Peter Kilchmann additionally opened agallery in the Marais district in Paris which increases the presence of its established artist portfolio while also supporting new French positions. The recent expansion increased the exposure of the artists in the program and has created new connections with the gallery’s collectors and supporters. The gallery has a long-standing approach of combining well-established artists alongside young positions. With this strategy the gallery continues to offer a platform for artists and viewers to engage in open dialogues that challenge the traditional art historic canon.
