LABOR was founded in 2009 by Pamela Echeverría. The gallery, based in Mexico City, works with artists whose creative processes are based on scientific, political, and sociological research. The gallery and its artists’ work focuses on generating critical projects that question current circumstances and on producing work with a rigorous conceptual foundation. It also showcases the work of artists who, although not represented by the gallery, have generated a seminal body of work in contemporary art. The gallery presents exhibitions that explore new production techniques, materials, and media in which the artists express their political and social visions and concerns. LABOR brings together young and mid-career artists, both Mexican and international, with whom it works closely and takes an active role in the projects it develops
