Gabriel Orozco, Untitled, 2014, Tempera and Burnished Gold Leaf on Linen Canvas, 40 x 40 cm, Courtesy of the Artist and Kurimanzutto

Kurimanzutto was founded in 1999 in Mexico City by Mónica Manzutto, José Kuri and a group of 13 artists. The aim of this coming together was to enable collaborations while supporting the artists’ work locally and internationally. As the list of artists grew, they helped develop the concept and structure of the gallery. In 2008 the gallery moved to a former timber yard built in 1949 which was restored and is now a place for open critical and social encounters, research and the development of projects.
