Founded in 1946, GVCC is the oldest gallery in Morocco. The collective memory of the country’s visual arts is imprinted here, GVCC is a key institution in the world of art in Morocco. Decades ago GVCC built its reputation upon being the first gallery to offer Orientalist painters such as Jacques Majorelle, José Cruz Herrera, Henri Pontoy and Jean-Gaston Mantel, artists that are highly sought-after at international auction today. GVCC has also premiered the work of many renowned Moroccan artists who have become major Moroccan artists and true references in the world of art, including Farid Belkahia, Ahmed Cherkaoui, Jilali Gharbaoui, Hassan El Glaoui, and Chaïbia.

The year 2008 marked a turning point, with the acquisition of the gallery by Anne-Laurence Sowan. Now GVCC renews its pioneering vocation through its distinguished artistic direction and its firm commitment to present the work of emerging as well as confirmed artists. GVCC is the partner of a rising generation of Moroccan artists such as Soufiane Idrissi, Mohammed Chrouro, Yacout Kabbaj, Hassan Mannana, and Mehdi Melhaoui, as well as African and international artists such as Emo de Medeiros, Gastineau Massamba, Boris Nzebo, Meriem Bouderbala, Zoulikha Bouabdellah and Valéry Grancher.
