Galerie Dorothea van der Koelen, founded in 1979, is one the leading German galleries of contemporary art. The gallery has contributed to several establishments including its first publishing house in 1986, second gallery in 1989 in Mainz, Germany, second publishing house in 1995 and third gallery in 2001 in Venice, vander Koelen Foundation for arts and science in 2003 and CADORO – Centre for Arts and Science in 2014. In 2015, Dr. Dorothea van der Koelen was awarded the Max-Slevogt-Medal. Since 1981, the gallery has participated in more than 200 international art fairs. Since 1985, Dr. Dorothea van der Koelen, owner anddirector of the gallery, has curated more than 550 international exhibitions and public projects worldwide.In 2019 Dr. Dorothea van der Koelen is celebrating her 40th gallery anniversary with the exhibitions “Was-Is-Will be” in Mainz and Venice. In 2021, the gallery in Venice celebrated its 20th anniversary.
