Dastan features an extensive and multi-dimensional program, focusing on the full spectrum of Iranian contemporary and modern art. Dastan’s program includes Dastan’s Basement, +2 and Dastan:Outside. In addition to hosting exhibitions, Dastan maps out a host of events, including the publication of artist books as well as monographs on Iranian art, the screening of films related to the art scene, and performance projects.
Dastan’s Basement, was established in 2012 in Tehran, Iran. The Basement is dedicated to exhibiting emerging and experimental Iranian art, which, given the country’s profound transformations especially in the past four decades, is not wanting. With its short, intimate setting, Dastan’s Basement can be arranged to realize some of the many projects that line up at its door. These are works that engage the viewer and wrestle with established norms of practice.
