PLANETARY FEED 2021

The 2021 season of Planetary Feed focuses on a series of videos featuring emerging Palestinian artists and their daily practices. The short films weave together stories, voices and cultural perspectives. The investigative journey, providing insights into the development of artistic practices and the storytelling of creative communities, features Yazan Abu Salameh, Rana Samara, Bashar Khalaf, Mahdi Baraghithi, Mahdi Baraghithi, Majdal Nateel and Reem Natsheh. The initiative is produced in collaboration with Gallery One (Ramallah) and Zawyeh Gallery (Ramallah/Dubai), video filming & production are by Ramallah-based filmmaker Bilal Al Khatib.

Yazan Abu Salameh

Jerusalem-born visual artist, Yazan Abu Salameh explores urban geographies through his work — depicting what can be seen as miniature maps that reflect the remnants of childhood memories, concrete blockades and watch towers, as well as Palestinian neighborhoods from a bird’s eye view. Using found objects and material, such as concrete, pebbles, wires and Lego blocks, his choice of medium — along with the concept — play a central role in the work he creates.
