Established in 1987, Vadehra Art Gallery (VAG) stands today as one of the most well-respected art galleries in India, representing a roster of artists spanning four generations. Modern masters like MF Husain, Ram Kumar, SH Raza and Tyeb Mehta, integral to the founding years of the gallery, find prime spot in the gallery’s calendar alongside the subsequent generation of modernists like Arpita Singh, Gulammohammed Sheikh and Rameshwar Broota. VAG’s contemporary programme includes some of the most exciting names in Indian art such as Atul Dodiya, Shilpa Gupta, Anju Dodiya, Nalini Malani, NS Harsha, Praneet Soi, as well as young emerging talent.
VAG has collaborated with the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), New Delhi and Mumbai, and Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (KNMA), New Delhi, to produce seminal shows on Indian art, and has loaned works and supported exhibitions at Guggenheim Museum, NY; Kunstmuseum, Bern; Chicago Cultural Centre; Asia Society, NY; Peabody Essex Museum, Boston; Serpentine Gallery, London; and Mori Art Museum, Japan.
As a key artistic interlocutor to audiences in India the gallery expanded its exhibition programme in 2007 to include important names from the international contemporary art scene. Since then VAG has exhibited works of significant international artists including Yoko Ono, Wolfgang Laib, Bernd and Hilla Becher, Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud, and Karl Blossfeldt.
The Gallery ventured into publishing in 1996, and has since published over 15 books and hundreds of illustrated exhibition catalogues and artist monographs, in addition to coffee table books, picture books for children, and an art directory. Since 2010, VAG has collaborated with international publishing houses Prestel and Penguin to produce monographs on Indian artists.

Ranbir Kaleka (born 1953) is multi-media artist based in New Delhi. Kaleka was trained at College of Art, Chandigarh, and the Royal College of Art, London. Initially trained as a painter, his work has increasingly animated two-dimensional canvases within experimental film narrative sequences. Kaleka has been exhibited in a range of major international gallery and museums. In 2007, Dr. Felicitas Heimann-Jelinek, Senior Judaica curator, Spertus Museum Chicago commissioned Kaleka to make a Holocaust memorial. The site-specific video installation is titled “Consider”, an installation consisting of two projections, a painting and an audio narrative of oral testimony from Auschwitz. In 2005 Kaleka showed at the 51st Venice Biennale in the exhibition ‘iCon – India Contemporary’ Co-curated by Julie Evans, Gordon Knox and Peter Nagy. In 2002 Kaleka exhibited at the Kunsthalle, Vienna, Austria in the exhibition Kapital and Karma: Recent Positions in Indian Art. Kaleka was awarded the National Award by the president of India at the 22nd National Exhibition of Art organised by the Lalit Kala Akademi in 1979 in Delhi.
