Announcing the Launch of the Dubai Collection

Art Dubai takes on the role of managing the Dubai Collection, a new initiative built in collaboration with the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture). By instigating a fresh format for acquiring and showcasing works reflecting the identity of the Emirate, the Dubai Collection aims to support both emerging and established artists and unite stakeholders to help establish the city’s position as a center for art and culture.

Art Dubai’s patron, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai has generously loaned his personal collection to be the first artworks to enter the Dubai Collection. In addition public and private entities, as well as individuals, are invited to contribute to the Dubai Collection by either acquiring artworks for inclusion in the collection or lending artworks from their own collections. All contributors will be recognised as patrons, maintaining full ownership of their loaned artworks. The collection will be balanced by artworks which reflect the rich history and heritage of the Emirate and provide a comprehensive survey of diverse artistic production during recent decades.

Building on Art Dubai’s dedicated programme of activities designed to stimulate patronage, the Dubai Collection aims to further educate on the benefits of owning artworks and supporting all areas of the creative ecosystem. In this sense, it is aligned with Art Dubai’s mission to cultivate a culture of discovery and creativity throughout the city and greater region.

A Steering Committee of leading UAE cultural figures and a Curatorial Committee of top art professionals based in the UAE and internationally will both play an important role in developing the content and exposure of the Dubai Collection.

Further details on the Dubai Collection will be announced in the run up to Art Dubai March 2021. For specific enquiries, please email us at info@artdubai.ae.
