A recollective black and white photographic exhibition showcasing images taken by Ramesh Shukla dating back to December 2nd, 1971; the Federation of the UAE. A visual commemoration of the upcoming 50 year anniversary of the nation, offering viewers a journey down memory lane with portraits of our dignified Founding Fathers, vintage landmarks, and traditional customs and heritage. These images were the inspiration behind Art Dubai’s 2021 graphic campaign.
Ramesh Shukla describes his destiny and his presence in the United Arab Emirates as being in the right place at the right time. His undivided devotion to the nation is reflected in his photographic collection accumulated over the past fifty years, capturing intimate aspects of life in the UAE.
Today, these images feature in many prominent venues in the region and overseas. His images of the rulers of the UAE also adorn palaces and private collection, and his work appears on UAE postage stamp and currency notes.
Shukla has received several awards, the most distinctive tribute being a gold plate presented to him on the twenty-sixth Accession Day of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He continues to capture the evolving landscape of the UAE, and is involved in several note-worthy projects.
The first national museum of the UAE, The Etihad Museum, showcases permanent exhibition of Ramesh Shukla’s best historical photographic collection to date. The Etihad Museum will be the pinnacle of Ramesh Shukla’s career as an artist and a photographer.
Ramesh Shukla’s devotion to art and creativity, along with the unreserved support from his wife Tarulatta and son Neel Shukla, led to the foundation of Four Seasons Ramesh Gallery, featuring diverse collection of photographs, paintings, furniture, lighting, framing and accessories. The gallery operates from two locations in Dubai and attracts a multitude of loyal admirers and these patrons have voted the gallery and made the gallery the winner at the Insideout Reader’s Choice Awards, Best for Lighting 2015/2016 and Best for Art & Objets 2016 awards. To this day, Ramesh is constantly exploring and challenging his artistic skills. His passion for photography and dedication to the UAE is transparent and relentless.
