Galerie Dorothea van der Koelen, founded in 1979 in Mainz, is one of the leading galleries of contemporary art in Germany with a branch in Venice, Italy. In 2014 Dr. Dorothea van der Koelen inaugurated the CADORO – Centre for Arts and Science in Mainz where beside her gallery also her publishing house Chorus-Verlag and the van der Koelen Foundation is situated. In 2015 she was awarded with the famous Max-Slevogt-Medal. The program of the gallery is concrete – conceptual – constructive, intellectual but poetically, showing the beauty of the matter. The artists are masters of the international Avant-garde or new emerging tendencies. Since 1981 the gallery has participated in more than 200 international art fairs around the world. Dr. Dorothea van der Koelen is specialized in art-in-architecture-projects and sculptures in public space and has curated more than 550 exhibitions in 28 countries worldwide.
