Tashkeel Sketchbook Series Vol 2

Back in 2017, Tashkeel commissioned 5 artists to design cover designs for its first Made in Tashkeel Sketchbook series. Commissioned artists were Möbius Design Studio; Tulip Hazbar; Myneandyours; Ibraheem Khamayseh; Wissam Shawkat.

Having successfully sold out, Tashkeel will be releasing Made in Tashkeel Sketchbook Series Vol 2 at Dubai Art Season 2022. Pre-orders are open on the Tashkeel website shop. Copies will be on Sale at Tashkeel House 10 during Sikka (14-24 March), at Art Dubai (9-13 March) and World Art Dubai (16-19 March) as well as at Tashkeel Nad Al Sheba.

Each sketchbook is the perfect size at 25 (height) by 19 (width) containing 72 pages of 300 GSM cover and 120 GSM smooth, perforated white paper.

 

 

The Founding Generation of UAE Artists

Mouza Al Hamrani is an illustrator and multimedia designer based in Ajman, UAE. Her practice revolves around experiences within her Khaleeji upbringing, touching on cultural inheritances, existentialism, superstition, and the human condition. She holds a B.Sc. in Multimedia Design from Zayed University, Dubai. @buuuuuzu

If Time Does Not Obey You, You Must Obey Time.

Wissam Shawkat is an artist, designer, calligrapher and type designer. In recent years, Shawkat has become known for a new calligraphic style, Al Wissam, which references a number of traditional scripts, bringing them together with modern design. His work can be found in Etihad Museum. Wissam is a member of Tashkeel. @wissamshawkat

Gazelle

Maitha Demithan combines several mediums, including photography, scanography, painting, drawing, and photo transfers in her visual arts practice. Her work demonstrates a profound appreciation of colour, texture, line and shadow while often alluding to the past and expressing the value of family and clan traditions. Maitha is a member of Tashkeel. @maithdemithan

Playground

Nasir Nasrallah is an artist and curator who experiments with, and synthesizes, materials in his work, whether physical objects, ideas or theorems. His work is a highly personal response to his environment and the people and places he encounters. He is currently Director of the Education Programme at Sharjah Art Foundation and Ambassador for the UAE Board on Books for Young People. @nasirnasrallah

All She Must Do

Yosra Emamizadeh is a visual artist whose works are an exploration of the relationships and connections we have within ourselves and the world around us. She is inspired by Islamic art, nature, and the conversations she has with other women. She studied at the American University of Beirut, Angel Academy of Art in Florence, and Harvard University. She also runs the podcast, Tavān Studio In Conversation. Yosra is a member of Tashkeel. @yosraemamizadeh

Climbing the Mountain

eL Seed uses Arabic calligraphy and a distinctive style to spread messages of peace, unity and to underline the commonalities of human existence. His artwork can be found all over the world and consistently aim at unifying communities and redressing stereotypes. In 2017, he received the UNESCO Sharjah Prize for Arab Culture. Since spending one year as artist-in-residence (2013-2014) in its main centre in Nad Al Sheba, eL Seed is a member of Tashkeel. @elseed

Ibraheem Khamayseh is an artist, iIllustrator and calligrapher who inherited his passion for creativity from his father, a renowned calligrapher. Born in Palestine, he studied Graphic Design at Al Najah University and began his career as a graphic designer for advertising agencies. He is the Senior Graphic Designer at Tashkeel by day and an Arabic Calligrapher by night with many notable works in his portfolio. @ibrahimzaki.kh
