Yasuaki Onishi born in 1979 in Osaka, holds a Master degree in Sculpture from Kyoto University of Arts. He has had solo exhibitions throughout Japan and internationally, and through group shows his work has been shown, among others, at FRAC Centre, France and at the National Museum of Art, Japan (NMAO). Onishi has been the recipient of multiple grants, including The Pollock-Krasner Foundation Inc. in New York., and has participated in numerous residency programs around the world. In his works, Onishi re-imagines space as an interrupted sequence of fragments and enables the transformation of spatial surfaces into composite worlds of definite material weight, activating a mechanism of deep memory in our apparatus of consciousness, with the use of simple, industrial materials, such as glue. Yasuaki Onishi is represented by The Mine Gallery.

The Mine was founded in 2014  as an interdisciplinary art space, creating a a unique dialogue to a new audience in the UAE’s art scene. As of 2016 The Mine has evolved  into an online & pop-up art gallery,  representing a diverse selection of international contemporary artists.
