RCA INNOVATION

Alongside the prize, The Abraaj Group launched The Abraaj RCA Innovation Scholarship in 2014, thereby broadening and deepening their support for the creative sector. For five years, each year, the Scholarship supports five exceptional post-graduate students from growth markets of Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Turkey. As the Scholarship covers full international tuition fees to pursue a Master of Arts for two years at the Royal College of Art (RCA) in London, this is the world’s largest international scholarship in the creative postgraduate sector.

The RCA is recognized as the leading art and design university by the QS World Rankings 2016 and the Abraaj Scholarship aims to foster a unique community of creative leaders who share the values, integrity, and social responsibility upheld by both institutions. The Selection Committee is composed of a world-class panel including Tim Brown, CEO of IDEO, Dame Marjorie Scardino, former CEO of Pearson and Paola Antonelli, Senior Curator, Department of Architecture and Design of The Museum of Modern Art among others. The Scholars are from Turkey, Kazakhstan, India, Mexico, Colombia, South Africa, Ghana, the Philippines, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates, and their expertise spans from textiles all the way to industrial design.
