Welcome to the seventh edition of the Art Dubai Journal. This online journal seeks to employ a form of critique as a separate entity to Art Dubai. By creating a critical awareness and dialogue we hope that this journal will achieve a level of understanding of the Middle East and its surrounding regions. With three different sections, we hope that our audiences will have easy access to a variety of interviews and debates, and in turn create their own levels of discourse within the artistic field.

Our intention is to create a platform of exchange for theories, ideas and issues through our debate and interview sections, in order to keep audiences regularly updated with global happenings in the contemporary art field.

As Art Dubai 2010 approaches, this month’s journal focuses on returning galleries, discussing stories in relation to the contemporary art market, the recession, cultural politics and expectations of the upcoming fair from galleries across the world.

The Project Space is an area dedicated specifically to up-and-coming artists from all backgrounds. Writers, photographers, illustrators and architects are invited to submit a proposal for a project or a body of work that will be available on our website for an entire month. We invite and urge those to apply for an online exhibition on the Art Dubai Journal. Click here to apply.
