Yusra M. Saleh

Rome, Italy (1983)

Yusra M. Saleh, also known as Susy, was born in Rome (1983) into a Saudi-Italian family. She was brought-up in Jeddah and is currently living in Dubai. In 2006 she obtained a Bachelor of Architecture from the American University of Sharjah, where she is currently enrolled as a full time graduate student of Urban Planning.

Although professionally grounded in the field of architecture and design, she has been doodling all her life (particularly through classes) and has only recently been taking the task more seriously. Encouraged and introduced into the local art scene by Art Connection in Al Bastakia, she had her first solo exhibition titled I'm Not an Artist I Simply Doodle, she is currently involved in a series of local art projects and explains her work as simply depicting moments of everyday life.

Although influenced by a complex cultural dimension that is particular to her self and generation, her doodles manage to capture that complexity in a simple manner. Therefore allowing many to relate to her experiences and feelings whether they actually resemble her culturally or not.
