Founded in 2012, Galerie Tore Suessbier concentrates on contemporary art with a focus on German art and artists from 1980 onward while focusing on the primary market. Its focus is not only to exhibit contemporary artists but to also show the works in an art-historical context: The “Pure White” exhibition f.ex. puts contemporary works by Michal Martychowiec, Joachim Elzmann and Richard Jordan in conversation with artists from the Zero group (Guenther Uecker) and Nouvelles Tendances (Louis Tomasello). Another example is the exhibition “Drawings”, where contemporary artist Catherine Lorent and one of the most important artists of the Neue Sachlichkeit, Otto Dix, have been juxtaposed in order to show that topics and drawings from before the war do not differentiate as much as we might believe to the present time.
