Biography:
I grew up with ADD (attention deficit disorder) which resulted in a very short attention span. As an adult I still have trouble sitting still and listening for more than 5 minutes. The way I solved that problem was to doodle. Doodling keeps my mind occupied and focused enough to be attentive. Over the years these drawings have become more and more interesting to look at and I have taken to painting them with gel pens which ends up adding interesting textures, stroke marks, and minute pieces of glitter to the images.

Out of the hundreds of drawings I’ve saved, some are selected for scanning at a high resolution. A lot of work begins. The drawings have to be carefully cleaned up at the pixel level and then they have to be transformed. Using various imaging programs and sometimes hundreds of steps they are transformed into works of art – each one unique from all the others before it.

I may be one of very few artists who do their work in both the digital and physical world and each finished piece is a blend of both. The easiest way to describe work is contemporary. Am I a digital artist? Not entirely since most of them do their work entirely on a computer. I’m a hybrid. The physical drawing adds creative effects that are difficult to duplicate digitally. The gel inks create textures and contrasts that are difficult to create with paint. Besides this, the paper wetted by the ink ends up distorting and warping in ways that create a highly unique look when the drawings are scanned at a high resolution and then enlarged.

Each finished piece is then professionally printed onto cloth canvas and sprayed with an acrylic lacquer for protection and enhancement.
