ARTIST IN RESIDENCE STUDIO - JORDAN
‘START House’ is located in the capital of Jordan; with the Jordan National Gallery and numerous private galleries minutes from the House, it is at the heart of Amman’s growing cultural scene. Established in 2008 ‘START House’ has successfully welcomed film-makers, photographers, designers and fine-artists who have enjoyed use of the spacious residence and the natural light of the studio space.
APPLICATION CRITERIA
Residencies last a minimum of two weeks and a maximum of one month. ‘START House’ is open all year and we welcome applications on a rolling basis. All applicants must submit a brief CV, 5 jpegs of recent work and indicate the time of year they wish to visit.
COSTS
If accepted, you may stay in ‘START House’ for free; in exchange of this support we ask artists to donate two 90 minute workshops per week of their stay, to children in need within Jordan. Materials for these workshops are provided by START and enable artists to showcase their practice locally. Additional costs to be considered by artists are travel, food, entertainment and art materials whilst in Jordan.

START is a non-profit art project, run by artists, to help vulnerable children express their creativity and have fun.
The Middle East has one of the fastest growing refugee populations and a large number of children are placed in orphanages. START gives these children art workshops, holds exhibitions of their work and takes them on outings to art galleries and museums.
